Description:“Brown-out” refers to a drop in voltage of an electric power supply, so named because it literally causes lights to dim. The theme was based from experience during the time when there were frequent brown-outs in our locality. Those were lonesome times and I had nothing but the brushes and the quite uncanny idea of doing a self portrait.
The painting was a combination of black, red and some yellow for highlights producing a very dim environment. I used pallete knife all throughout the painting and a little round brush to minimize the sharpness in some of the edges.
This one is a self portrait and my official entry to the 2008 GSIS painting competition.
